AUDITION INFORMATION
Auditions will take place at the first rehearsal for both our one-act and
two-act shows.  Auditions are low-key and unprepared.  The
participants do not audition for a specific part.  Because everyone who
registers receives a part we hold a general audition and place them in
parts which best fit their personality.

For their auditions we will have the participants sing a simple song,
typically "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star".  If they do not know the words
to this song we will go over the words before we have them sing.

They will be called up in groups of 5-10 children per group.  The
director will sing the song together with them one time, have them sing
it on their own as a group one time and then go down the line and
have them sing it individually.  We will do the same thing with any
auditions lines we want them to say and again if we want to see any
movements.

Once they have auditioned the first time we may keep them at
auditions for a call back (where they audition a second time, this time
auditioning for a specific role we have chosen for them).  If we are not
doing call backs and don't feel we will have time to start a first
rehearsal we will release them early.

During auditions for our one-act show, a staff member will be holding a
short parent meeting to discuss Play House policies, volunteer time,
productions, rules, etc.  Please attend this meeting if you can.

The most important thing you can do for your child to prepare them for
auditions is DON'T PREPARE THEM!  We don't want them to worry
about how well they do in auditions, we want to see their personality.
Over preparing them may lead to stress and worry on their part.
Everyone who auditions will get a part; even if they refuse to audition
we will still find a part for them.  A shy child will get progressively
better at auditioning with each workshop they attend.
Come see what's
behind the curtain!
